Paula De Azevedo is presently an equity director at IC Clark Incorporated operating from 25 St Luke's Road, Belgravia, East London, Eastern Cape. Paula attended Fort Hare University where she obtained a BA degree in 2005 and an LLB degree in 2007. She attended the East London School for Legal Practice in 2008. After completing articles in 2009 she went on to pursue a Masters of European, Economic and International Law at Saarland University, Germany specialising in European Economic Law and Foreign Trade Law. Here she was selected to represent the University at the International European Debates which were held in Antwerp, Brussels. Whilst completing her degree she completed a long-distance advanced course in Corporate Law through UNISA.

Paula was admitted and enrolled as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa on 29 April 2010. She has been in practice for 14 years and has provided legal services to clients in diverse matters. In 2013 she was appointed as a chairperson of the South African Tax Board, which position she still holds. Mr Gcinisizwe Siyakudumisa Dlanjwa (Mr Dlanjwa) was born in 1970 in Khuma location near Stilfontein in the North West Province.

Mr Gcinisizwe Siyakudumisa Dlanjwa was admitted as an Attorney in the High Court of South Africa on 7 February 2005 ; having started the legal journey in 2003 by enrolling for Practical Legal Training School situate in the North West University (Potchefstroom campus), and completed the programme at the end of June 2003. Rod obtained a BA (political science and English) and LLB degrees from the University of Natal.

He completed articles at Leandy Leroque Attorneys, Durban.

While at University he became a founder member of the Legal Aid Clinic and also acted as its secretary. The Clinic assisted indigent persons.

While completing his articles he accepted labour law instructions (in spite of facing resistance) and assisted workers with claims.

Over the period of Rod's life he has opposed apartheid and participated in activities challenging it.

On 5 February 1979 he joined Webber Wentzel, Johannesburg and set up the new employment law department. At one point it consisted of 28 legal practitioners.

During his first years at WW he acted as the principal attorney for the Council of Unions of SA and was involved in leading reported cases which developed employment law. He advised Cyril Ramaphosa who then was the general secretary of NUM.

I first served at Rosa van Niekerk Attorneys, thereafter moved to BMD Mathizerd Attorneys and completed my articles with Neuhoff Khoza Attorneys where I completed my service and got admitted as an attorney of the High Court in Mpumalanga Province.

What inspired me to study law was the injustices that I had seen happening to our black people despite the country having been about 15 years post democracy. My father worked for a predominately white company which treated black people very poorly. I told myself that I want to make a difference in my fellow South Africans lives, to promote social justice and access to affordable legal services.

I specialize in Labour Law litigation, where I represent mostly black employees at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitrations (CCMA) and the Bargaining Councils. In May 2007 I was admitted as a conveyancer. I run a general practice covering all areas of litigation including labour law and commercial arbitration with a staff compliment of 10 people, including associates. I have been involved in the governance structures of the legal profession for over ten years. My first task was to collect cheques for processing. After that I worked in the savings and cheque departments. I also worked as a teller for a few years, whereafter I worked in the Foreign Exchange department, buying and selling foreign currency, and assisting business clients with import and export payments.

I completed a Certificate in Banking through the Institute of Bankers of SA (IOB) in 2000. I married my ex-husband in 2009. My ex-husband qualified as a civil engineer and we relocated to Dubai. Whilst living in Dubai I had the privilege of visiting many countries. We lived in Dubai for 4 years whereafter we divorced. I moved bank to South Africa and focused on finishing my LLB degree through UNISA.

Whilst studying I did some volunteer work at Wynberg Magistrates court under the guidance of Advocate Deon Ruiters. Adv. Ruiters remains a mentor to this day. I also attended as many student vacation and community outreach programmes as I could. I obtained my LLB degree in October 2014, whereafter I completed a two year clerkship at Von Lieres Cooper Barlow and Hangone attorneys in Cape Town.

I was admitted as an attorney on 3 March 2017. I obtained the right of appearance in the Western Cape High Court on 28 June 2018.

As I could not find a permanent position straight away, I decided to help myself and completed the Practice Management Training programme (PMT) on 25 June 2019. I also joined the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa (FISA) and attended the seminars, workshops and training as part of the required 40 annual hours Continuous Development Programme (CPD). At this time, I shared office space with a few other attorneys in Newlands. Covid necessitated that I obtain work with a more regular income and I joined Louw Coetzee Attorneys in Durbanville for 10 months. During this time, I qualified as a mediator, through Social Justice. Thereafter I assisted at Shalene Schreuder Attorneys, also in Durbanville for a four-month contract, where I worked with Road Accident Patient files (RAF) and curatorship's. All the above, whilst still holding a Fidelity Fund Certificate in my own name, as I still held funds for deceased estates, that was taking long to finalise (especially during the Covid period and the backlogs caused by the Master of the High court, the Deeds office, banks and SARS).

Unfortunately, Mari Steenekamp Attorneys became a victim of cyber fraud in January 2024, where clients' funds that I held at Grindrod Bank was stolen.

I have had to learn about the Banking Act and cyber fraud very quickly, and realised that there is not legal precedent in South Africa, when it comes to theft/fraud via Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) and "virtual banks". One always reads about the risks and try to heed the warnings, but is never ready for such an event. In light of what I have had to go through and is still going through, I want to assist attorneys and the public of how to limit their exposure to risks and fraud.

I was later promoted to State's Advocate with the then Attorney General of the Free State. Part of my responsibilities was appearance on behalf of State in appeal matters in the then Appeal Court. After resigning from the Department I did my vocational training as an attorney in Bloemfontein. I was admitted as an attorney in August in 1982 and have been practicing as such since then.

In 1995 I completed a certificate in Human Rights at UJ. In 1996 I received a certificate in Mining and Minerals from the University of the North. In 1997 I obtained the LLM degree at UJ in Municipal and Administrative Law. In 2013 I obtained the MPhil at Northwest University.

Julian Yende is the Founder and the Senior Director of M Y Attorneys (formerly Yende INC Attorneys). Julian Yende started his legal career in 1993 when he was employed as a State Prosecutor by the then Department of Justice. He was initially posted in a Small Town called Kriel. On his first day he was not well received as the Senior Magistrate then informed him that his Afrikaans was poor The next day Julian proceeded to the Department of Justice in Pretoria and informed the officer in charge of his placement and the following week Julian was posted to East London Magistrates Court.

Julian was well received in East London Magistrate's Court. While working as a State Prosecutor he made good relations with colleagues in the legal profession. During 1995 he attended Justice College Prosecutors course where he met amongst other Ms Z Carelse who was a prosecutor then, now the Constitutional Court Justice as well as Advocate BR Tokota who was a lecturer then and now a Judge of the High Court of South Africa - Eastern Cape Division. Julian's upward mobility was motivated by the two esteemed individuals.

In 1996 he got a transferred to Springs Magistrate's Court. Having being inspired by both Ms Z Carelse and Advocate BR Tokota, Julian while he was a state prosecutor he enrolled with the School for Legal Practice from 8 July 1996 to 29 January 1997(Night school).

In February 1997 he wrote and passed the Attorneys Admission Examination. On 30th June1997 he resigned as a State Prosecutor and on the 7th July 1997 he entered into a one year contra! of Articles of Clerkship with the then leading Law Firm in Boksburg. On 13th August 1998 he was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. On 3rd November 1998 he opened a Practice in Boksburg where he practice for his own account until to date. Julian has served the Legal practice as the member of the then MVA Standing Committee of LSSA. Julian has served as the Commissioner for Small Claims Court for the area of Tsakane.
